by Founders Financial — Time is both a relentless force and a precious resource. With countless tasks and responsibilities vying for attention, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and lose sight of what truly matters. That’s why it’s crucial to be ruthless with your time – to prioritize, focus, and make the most of every moment. Let us explore this concept of being ruthless with your time and how it can positively impact not only your professional life, but your personal life as well.

As the saying goes, “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” While this adage emphasizes the importance of managing time effectively, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. To truly excel in your role as an independent financial advisor and CEO, you must adopt a mindset of staying present through laser focus and self-order.

To begin, gain a clear perspective of what is important to you and establish your own standards. By doing so, you won’t be swayed by the urgency created by constant change. It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos, but with a strong sense of self-order, you can maintain focus on what truly matters.

As a servant leader, it’s crucial to set an example for others by mastering self-order. Identify the factors that steal your time and erode your focus, such as self-imposed distractions, pipe-dream thinking, and lack of dedication to preparation. You’ll achieve a balance that leads to long-term growth and fulfillment by eliminating these obstacles.

So, where do you start? How can you become more ruthless with your time? Let’s explore three practical tools in relation to what we’ve discussed thus far.

How to Prioritize Your Time

    1. Order: Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time. Successful people are ruthless with their time. They understand the importance of planning and organizing. Take the time to plan and prioritize tasks, turning away from temptations that promise quick and easy solutions. Discern which activities and groups are distractions, protecting and discriminating your time.
    2. Resolution: Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve. Commitment is key. Designate a specific time each week and day for self-organization. Get up one hour earlier each day to engage in activities that promote personal growth. Plan your week, have regular team meetings, and keep your goals visible. Set daily priorities, both for yourself and your team, and witness the power of preparation in action.
    3. Industry: Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions. Don’t fall into the trap of busyness. Instead, focus on what truly matters to you. Properly plan and allocate your time. Avoid chasing fleeting desires or opting for quick, easy solutions. Remember, time is irreplaceable, so ensure you invest it wisely.

By being ruthless with your time, you’ll develop a framework for self-order that can be applied to your work and personal life. This level of discipline liberates you from the anxiety of not having enough time and allows you to concentrate on what truly matters. Avoid the temptation to work longer hours and, instead, plan your hours effectively. Concentrate on tasks that align with your goals, and avoid being pressured by distractions.

By staying present through laser focus and self-order, you can navigate with intent the ever-changing landscape of your profession. Embrace the tools discussed here, but remember that the major ingredient to mastering time management comes from within. Have the courage to do what is required, and you will reap the rewards in both your professional and personal life.
