by Founders Financial — As the CEO of a financial advisory practice, achieving balance and harmony while fostering personal and professional growth is a constant pursuit. In the spirit of understanding that time is precious, let’s address the root of what drives organizational balance and harmony and explore how the principles of servant leadership can empower you to take control of the present, achieving a level of satisfactory personal and professional freedom that has always seemed so elusive.

Throughout history, great leaders have recognized the significance of achieving a balanced life and maintaining perspective. Many of them had a strong desire to gain knowledge and wisdom, so they could be better equipped to face life’s challenges in a constantly changing world. Instead of relying on the views of others or conforming to the masses, these remarkable people took charge and committed themselves to exploring their selves, surroundings, and relationships. In their unique processes, they each became an unconscious and skilled servant leader — a paramount necessity to scaling your enterprise and nurturing meaningful relationships.

Reactive vs. Proactive Mindset

Graphic of Member Partner Firm, FairWay Financial. "Our mission is to provide those we serve with the confidence needed to achieve goals and ambitions - through leadership, mutual trust, and character in action."At the core of YOUR journey towards balance and harmony lies developing a servant leader mindset. By understanding your mission, purpose, values, and the importance of caring for relationships, you create a solid foundation for growth. As a servant leader, you are dedicated to the well-being of those you serve, prioritizing their needs while empowering and developing your team.

To fully embrace servant leadership and take control of your financial advisory practice, it is crucial to adopt a proactive approach rather than succumbing to a reactive mindset. By focusing on your practice’s strategic and tactical aspects, you can drive growth, attract and develop relationships, and create a purpose-rich enterprise. This shift from reacting to external circumstances to actively shaping your journey through proactive measures may seem laughably basic. Still, the results of this particular paradigm shift are nothing to gawk at.

Let’s imagine two scenarios:

First, in the life of the reactive CEO, your schedule is largely determined by the actions or inactions of others. What you need to do at any given moment is address an existing situation, often with the potential for said situation to go awry, and stamp it out. You spend your time trying to return to a sort of status quo, a place of perceived balance where nothing is ablaze and no urgent items fill the day’s docket. Once you achieve that baseline, only then can you begin to think about tomorrow’s tomorrow.

Alternatively, in the life of the proactive CEO, you live in tomorrow’s tomorrow. You have the freedom, foresight, and flexibility to look at your day, your week, and your month in advance and decide for yourself what actions need to be taken not just to achieve a status quo, but how to drive the achievements of those in your enterprise, inspire others through bold leadership, and share a vision that you have had the time to cultivate because you are simply being proactive about it.

Two very different perspectives, often with two very different outcomes.

Rituals, Processes, and Self-Order

To develop this mindset, finding time to make yourself the product is critical. You need to grow, evolve, develop, and dream about what you want to achieve. So, how do you find the time when you’re probably feeling so stretched thin to begin with?

Achieving harmony and balance in your life requires a resolute and unwavering conviction, and it cannot be negotiated in your mind. Although every person’s journey is unique, here are a few great starting points to begin transforming your mindset to impact the world around you positively:

  • Identify and eliminate things that don’t serve your personal mission and purpose.
  • Schedule regular time for reflection and self-evaluation to ensure you are serving your mission.
  • Take time to decompress and assess yourself, your environment, and your enterprise.

While the points above are great first steps, there is no magic trick to finding your own harmony and balance — much less keeping it. If there was, you probably would have already discovered it and wouldn’t be reading this article. Developing this mindset is a constant pursuit and evolution of yourself built on the foundation of a disciplined and resolute mind forged through the adoption of rituals, processes, and self-order.
